The Club Championship is the most prestigious event in the Club’s calendar year.
MEN’S – The first Men’s Championship was played in 1956, as is played today, with two qualifying stroke rounds followed by Match Play and the inaugural winner was Walter Scott. There were dominant players in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s, with a strong rivalry between Russell Scott and Phillip Jewell. Russell Scott won his fourth championship in 1976, breaking Phillip’s run of 3 years in a row from 1973 to 1975, with Phillip winning his fourth championship in 1977. From 1979, Alan Bullas started his run of championships that he has managed to continue over 6 decades and has won a record 20 Men’s Club Championships up to 2022. From 1961 the championship was played over three stroke rounds. In 1978 the Club Championship reverted to two qualifying rounds followed by Match Play.

During the period from 1981 to 1997, Jenny Jeffreys won a record 12 championships. From 1992 the championships were played over three stroke rounds, and in 2001 for the first time a 54-hole championship was played on consecutive Saturdays.
